Job Details:
Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure Control Centre power supply availability.
• Ensure availability and viability of backup power supply facilities for Control Center e.g., generator and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units.
• Ensure availability of control Centre Local Area Networks (LANs).
• Ensure availability of communication links to substations and other equipment which is monitored and controlled remotely.
• Implement and maintain Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) wiring up to standard.
• Maintain a complete and concise record of all SCADA Hardware and communications Infrastructure documentation for overall use in SCADA system maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Participate in commissioning of remotely monitored and/or controllable equipment into the SCADA system.
• Implement and maintain the Change Control System for updating the electricity network diagram in the SCADA system.
• Deliver routine reports as required.
• Maintain good working relationships within the SCADA and Control Center environment that foster team building and high productivity.
Key Deliverables
• Reliable main and backup power supply at the Control Centre
• Reliable communication network links in Control Center and in substations.
• Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) Wiring.
• Maintenance of all SCADA servers and Remote Terminal Units.
• SCADA Anomaly resolution
• Testing and commissioning of SCADA equipment.
• Verify electricity power system network diagram updates, layout drawings, control schematic diagrams.
• Safety
• Regular reporting on the SCADA system and RTU availability
• SCADA Inventory and Asset Management
• Vehicle Management
• Training stake holders how to use the system
• Projects
Qualifications
• Diploma in Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering.
• 2 – 4 years’ work experience
• Basic knowledge of Windows OS, Linux OS, and computer networking is an added advantage
• A good understanding of common SCADA communication protocols such as DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850 is an added advantage.
