Job Details:
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and implement safe power system Operating Regulations to ensure the safety of all persons, safe guard electrical apparatus from damage and continuity of supply to customers.
• Identify opportunities of optimizing the distribution network to minimize outages and technical losses.
• Monitor and measure the performance and safe, effective and efficient control room practices of operating the distribution network.
• Implement emergency preparedness plans.
• Provide Real-Time information and Historical data, and record on network performance when needed by internal customers.
• Continuously monitoring, reviewing and propose processes and procedural changes to ensure customer satisfaction and better business performance.
• Issue instructions for all operations on the distribution network according to ORHVS regulations.
• Create jobs, dress electronic operating diagrams in SCADA system to indicate at all times the state of breakers, switches and isolators and position of earths on the distribution network. Record the names of the persons to whom feeders or apparatus have been handed out.
• Monitor, control and deliver quality and safe power supply to its utilization points with both reliability and continuity.
• Report network conditions and alarms to operating staff in order that appropriate and timely action is taken.
• Provide clear and appropriate information using approved means of communication to ensure that network faults’ incidences are passed to the relevant standby technical staff.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in power system operating.
• Good knowledge of IT is an added advantage
• A detailed knowledge of power system operations in electricity distribution environment.
• Basic knowledge of protection, switchgear in an electricity distribution environment.
• Analytical thinking during electricity systems operating.
• ORHVS authorization up to 33kV.
