Job Details:

Background:
Global Health Uganda (GHU) is a registered not for profit, limited liability company with the mission to promote child health by conducting and facilitating quality and relevant research in child health, neurodevelopment and interventions. In collaboration with other research institutions, including, Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Kampala, Uganda; KEMRI Centre for Global Health Research, Kisumu, Kenya; Training and Research Unit of Excellence (TRUE), Blantyre, Malawi; and University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway; GHU and its consortium partners are conducting a large multi-centre randomized controlled trial entitled ‘Post-discharge Malaria Chemoprevention – II (PDMC-II) study’. The trial aims to determine if PDMC with four courses of monthly Azithromycin (given monthly) in combination with four months of weekly dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DP) is superior to PDMC with weekly DP-alone in reducing non-malaria sick clinic visits by six months post-discharge in children aged <5 years admitted with severe anemia (Hb<5g/dl). In Uganda, the study will be conducted at Jinja Regional Referral hospital and Kitgum general hospital.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with the site medical officer and study staff to ensure that all the site data is handled/kept safely, entered, processed and transmitted as per protocol.
2. Perform data entry/transfer from paper formats into computer files or database systems,
and weekly data backup.
3. Prepare study participants’ files; ensuring accurate and completeness of study data.
4. Coordinate data related quality assurance activities; such as reviewing & resolving data
discrepancies, including generation of responses to data queries.
5. Ensure that all hard-copy study forms are safely stored in the designated area, including
good filing system at the site.
6. Manage and maintain study computers, and other IT equipment.
7. Manage internet services; ensuring good internet access.
8. Offer relevant technical IT support to site study staff.
9. Carry out any other duties as assigned by supervisors in line with your work.

Required qualifications and skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT), data science, and statistics or any related field.
• Good computer knowledge; ranging from basics like Microsoft application such as word
processing tools and spreadsheets, to database management packages, such as REDCap.
• Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices.
• Working experience with data entry and data management.
• Working knowledge and experience with REDCap is essential.
• Fast typing computer skills with a keen eye for details.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, and team-working skills to work effectively as part of a team.
• Time management skills, the ability to work under pressure, and prioritize appropriate
• Willingness to work in a rural setting.
