Job Details:
The main responsibility of the Finance Officer will be to support the Street Child Finance and Operations Manager in financial and administrative tasks. This position will also be responsible for supporting partners to strengthen their financial systems and processes in line with partnership agreements.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Finance 60%
• Receive, review and process all payments, ensuring each payment has the appropriate supporting documents, for suppliers, staff and partners
• Ensure that accurate voucher coding, cancellation and filling is effectively and routinely done
• Post all financial transactions into the Street Child software Accounting System daily – the system used is Aqilla.
• Produce monthly bank reconciliation statements and consolidate these in hard copy for review by the Finance and Operations Manager
• Prepare beyonic mobile money and petty cash monthly reconciliations
• Ensure effective office cash planning and management
• Ensure all financial documents are accurately supported, in line with Street Child’s policies and donor requirements
• Support with year-end closure procedures and statutory audit preparations
• Review staff and partner accountabilities, financial reports and provide capacity support on financial management
• Support specific periodic audits, project audits, internal and compliance audits and ensure recommendations are implemented
• Act as a bank agent
• Provide technical support to non-finance staff on financial policies, procedures and donor regulations
• Reconcile all advances and generate periodic reports
Administration 40%
• Responsible for managing the work environment, organizing office operations to ensure staff’s well-being
• Regularly update the asset register and ensure it matches the physical assets
• File monthly Statutory returns
• Review Vendor claims to ensure compliance with procurement procedures
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
• Directly supervise the work of the security guards, the cleaners and the logistics assistants

Essential qualification and experience:
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar position
• At least level 2 of CPA or ACCA
• A University degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, Business Administration or other closely related field
• Knowledge and experience in managing budgets
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Aqilla accounting software is an asset
Position
This role will be based at the Street Child head office in Kampala with regular travel to the different refugee settlements and local partner offices. This will be a one-year contract with a possible extension.
