Position title: Finance Officer
THE HUNGER PROJECT - UGANDA
Duty Station: Country Office- Kampala office
Purpose/ objective: To support Finance and Administration department's management of accounting system, policies and procedures in compliance with THPU's established accounting standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donor's guidelines and regulations and legal requirements to support high-quality programs that will contribute to a realizing a world without hunger.
As part of an experienced finance team, you will help coordinate daily financial activities through the preparation and delivery of financial services.
Reports to: Head of Finance and Administration
Description: Reporting to the Head Finance and Administration the position is a full time one year renewable contract to manage the financial transactions of THP - Uganda under the general supervision and guidance of the Head Finance and Administration.
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. Accounting Processes, Coordination and Service Delivery 1. In collaboration with the Head Finance and Administration she /he is responsible for facilitating payments to service providers and staff.
2. Review, Records and maintains books of accounts.
3. Participate in budgeting, financial reports, compliance and audits
4. Ensures proper maintenance of THP Financial records, safekeeping and handling.
5. Maintains staff updated pay roll and ensures that the organization conforms to all the necessary statutory requirements including deductions, and submitting to the relevant authorities, and Filling of returns for NSSF and P.A.Y.E.
6. In collaboration with the Head Finance and Administration, maintains the organization's property and equipment records (vehicles, computers and other general office equipment) Assets Management
7. Ensure that all expenditure vouchers are properly sanctioned and backed by supporting document, and retire all field advances accountabilities by staff timely
8. Participates in consolidation of the monthly, quarterly, semi- annual and annual accounts.
9. Share information with staff and partners on financial accounting policies and procedural compliance issues.
Treasury and Banking:
10. Initiate all online bank transactions / transfers as required and follow up all payments to their recipients
11. Ensure cheque books are properly recorded and filed 12. Establish control cash registers where need be. 13. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and Cash flows 14. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Finance and Administration.
Basic Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (BBA) with bias in Accounting or Finance
• Accounting Profession ACCA OR CPA level 2
• Minimum of two years accounting experience, preferably with an international or local NGO, or a financial/banking institution.

• Excellent organisation skills with great attention to detail
• Ethical conduct in accordance with recognized professional and organizational codes of ethics.
