Job Details:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the efficient management of Uganda Law Society financial resources in accordance with internal policies and financial standards.
• Ensure that all Uganda Law Society financial obligations and statutory requirements are fulfilled, including requirements to funding partners and timely reporting to Donors and stakeholders.
• Participate in budget exercises including annual and programme specific budgeting.
• Ensure monthly budget monitoring for the organization.
• Liaise with the Head of Finance to participate in annual audit exercises, including preparation of necessary documentation and Consolidated Annual Financial Statements.
• Ensure timely disbursement / payment of statutory dues e.g. NSSF, PAYE, as well as core costs e.g. salaries, utility bills and programme expenses
• Identify, recommend and participate on the review and update of organizational financial policies.
• Ensure adequate record keeping of all financial data as per Uganda Law Society policies. E.g. filing of vouchers, receipts and other documents.
• Ensure implementation and adherence to internal controls.
• Participate in project proposal writing i.e. design / review project budgets.
• Feed data in accurate manner in the accounting software.
• Ensure safety of the accounting information and risk management.
• Managing and monitoring both the accounts receivables and payables of ULS
• Preparation of monthly reconciliation of Cash, Bank, CLE Trainings, Fuel, Funds, Payroll and budget Variance analysis.
• Preparation of Financial statements and donor related financial reports.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Essential University Degree in Accountancy or Financial Management, B.COM, BBA etc.
• Must possess CPA OR ACCA (Must be fully registered with the Institute).
EXPERIENCE:
• Must have knowledge of EFRIS
• At least Five years’ work experience in finance and accounting with Donor Based Organisations.
• Extensive experience in preparing and managing significant budgets with diverse streams of income and expenditure.
• Extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems, preferably QuickBooks.
• Experience in designing and delivering finance, policies and systems.
• Experience in analyzing financial data and communicating to non-finance staff.
